PAGES THESE DAYS / 5 Books to Keep Us Creating

Century General Store

Anyone who's ever worked in hospitality knows that feeling of a hushed cafe space suddenly broken by the outburst of a conversation getting a little heated. You look over, check all is well and smile. It's just ideas, bouncing back and forth across the table over a cup of coffee. Disagreements. Artistic differences. I love that so many of our regulars use our space to meet friends, to catch up about films / books / life they want to share, to hold meetings about creative collaboration and begin that process of figuring out the intersections, overlap and straight dead ends between what you like and what someone else likes. I miss that at the moment and thought you might too.

So, without further ado, here's five books on our reading list. In those precious evening hours, with a candle lit and the day's jobs done til tomorrow, when I have the time and headspace to properly read, this is what I'll be reaching for.

/ begin, practice, keep showing up, practice some more, stretch yourself, practice, practice, note your improvements, practice more, repeat. /

/ take a break from the constant stream of commentary /

/ for the part where Stephen King describes the number of rejection letters from publishers pinned up on his wall /

/ pay attention to the small things /
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our doors are always open to collaboration on new products. If you're an artist, writer, or maker and would like to see your work on our shelves, please get in touch. Let's keep on making the things we love to make, and keep looking forward to the day we can share that cup of coffee and too loud conversation in a cafe somewhere (in this coffee nook if you'd like)...
